a) On Saturday Queen Elizabeth opened Britain's first purpose-built Aids ward. She met nine homosexual patients who are Aids sufferers, in the ward of Middlesex Hospital, London. She firmly shook hands with them and pointedly did not wear gloves.
Her visit lasted twenty minutes longer than planned as she sat on their beds and chatted with them. One of the Doctors, Professor Adler said:"It was a memorable visit. We hope that this gesture will make people realize that they need not be afraid to catch disease through social contact."

She sat on their beds and chatted with the patients 20 minutes longer than planned. One of the Doctors, Professor Adler was glad and he hopes that this gesture of the Queen will show everyone, that nobody catch Aids with a normal social contact.
